Sam was employed at State Implement Works, Midland Junction Workshops & finally State Shipping Services. Involved in Masonic affairs & a keen church member. Recognised for superb baritone voice, cheery nature & loved theatricals. Returned to the UK for two years during WWI, volunteering for munitions.
