Began life in WA on Group Settlement No. 53 near Busselton. Moved to prospecting and later studied metallurgy at Kalgoorlie School of Mines. Married Cath (nee Thomas) and raised three children, John, Ian and Bethwyn. Served in the Airforce as a Navigator during WWII. Worked diligently in the mining industry and for numerous community bodies. Became General Manager and a Director of North Kalgurli Mining Company.
