Prior to immigrating to Australia, Alberto served in WWII and spent several years on the island of Pantelleria, some as a POW. A hard working market gardener, he settled in Tuart Hill and together with his wife Concetta raised their children Giuseppe, Antonino, Maria Casilli and Nunziatina Gerace.
