Read their story

Dominick and Bridget Feeney opened and operated Feeney's Fish and Chip Shop, Victoria Avenue, North Fremantle from shortly after arrival (c1920) until approximately two years after the end of WW ll. They arrived with five children, James, John, Anne, Eugene and Thomas - fought with the Australian military forces in World War II. All returned safely. James (Jim) later served as a Councillor with both the North Fremantle Council and Fremantle Council. He was a member of the Labor Party and Shop Assistant's Union representartive. On Jim's death in 1968, Kim Beazley Snr. attended his funeral and paid tribute to his ‘valuable assistance and loyalty to the Labor movement.
