The demise of shipbuilding brought Robert to Australia. Lake Grace was his home for many years, marrying local girl Bluebell Slarke and raising 3 children; Robert, Gwendolyne and Pamela. He was a skilled tradesman and served in the AIF 1942-1944. His latter 27 years s were happily spent in South Perth.
