Rail strike prevented luggage arrival until May. Clothed by Methodist Mission. Arrived in Northcliffe, lived 4 years in half a shed. 10 shilling food allowance, settled on farm 1927. Never prospered, left after 17 years to serve as Military Policeman - Ernest served in WW1 at the Somme.
