Thomas Richard English came to WA in a sailing ship when he was 15 years old. In 1950 he came with his son John to WA on the MOOLTAN. A year later in 1951 wife, Avis Louise (Sam) and daughters, Elizabeth Anne and Cynthia Rosemary (Georgie) came on the NEW AUSTRALIA as Ten Pound Poms. Thought Australia was "Heaven" compared to war-torn England. The family moved to Busselton & Tom worked in the timber mill. Anne (Elizabeth) & Georgie were tomato pickers/packers & then became trained nurses at PMH. The family came through the Suez Canal on their voyage to WA.
