The young Emmelhainz family migrated to Australia because of the employment situation in West Germany. They were invited ashore to discuss employment opportunities in Perth. Franz and Hedwig made a split-second decision to settle in WA, rather than to reboard the Castel Felice and head for the eastern states as the job offer was a good one.
