William Hugh Edwards, usually known as Hugh Edwards, was born in Edinburgh on 29 July, 1933. He has married twice. His first wife was Jennifer Lejeune; they have two children: a son, Christopher, & a daughter, Caroline. Both are married & living in the United States of America. His second wife was Marilyn Georgeff and they have a daughter, Petrana, who is married & living in Europe. Hugh is well-known in Western Australia as one of the discoverers of the wreck of the 1629 Dutch East Indiaman Batavia & as the author of Islands of Angry Ghosts as well as 29 other books focusing on Western Australia & it's history.

  • Sadly, my uncle Hugh Edwards passed away on 10 May 2024. His son Christopher predeceased him in 2019. Hugh lived an extraordinary life. His passion for Western Australia and Western Australian maritime history never faded.
