Worked first as farmhand for Alex White, Kondinin. During Depression prospected for gold and took 1934 Census through Eastern Goldfields. By 1938 had become an engine driver on Lake View & Star Mine and married Thelma Pereira in Kalgoorlie. 1941 moved with family to Perth, qualified as fitter and turner, worked for Tomlinson Steel. Later ran his own small gardening business and before finally retiring worked at WAIT.
