Hi,i`m a Duffield of Bicton.Needing my history of family.Can anyone help me.

Hi Duffield of Bicton,
I am a ggg grandson of John Hole. I and my brother are just about to publish all we can find of the Duffields in a family history which includes the Cleavers (Charles Hole married two Cleaver girls). We have used Oliver Duffields book "Duffields of Bicton" Vols 1-3 as a start. We have used Trove to find many references to the Duffields in contemporary newspapers of the day. The Duffield - Cleaver volume will be over 400 pages when complete.

Hi Phil, I am a descendant of John Hole Duffield via Charles and the younger Cleaver girl(well, at least Ancestry.com says I am) Did your book get published?

I am the son of Yvonne Joy Duffield I remember reading a family history that my mother had a red book. I think the title was Duffield's of Bicton
She passed away in 2018 2 with OA I would love to find that book
Her father was William Duffield was am executive with the R&I Bank lived in Nedlands and retired to Rockingham. Neville was her brother Shirley and Audrey her sisters

I was presented with the original Duffield’s of Bicton Red Books and extended additions. They were given to me by Oliver Duffield (the author) I am a direct descendant of John Hole Duffield

I am not related to the Duffields, but an historian acquaintance of mine (associated with the Maritime Historical Society) is researching a topic that may have a possible a connection to the family. AH Courderot was a Frenchman who had been transported to Fremantle from England for fraud but redeemed himself subsequently in the Perth colony - occupying a number of responsible positions. He may have been linked to French aristocracy (or may have made
the connection up) and intriguingly he seems to have been linked in some way to WA Governor Aloysius Weld before either arrived in WA. Courderot was married to Charlotte Riley (nee Duffield) in 1871 when she was 22. Charlotte was the daughter of Samuel Bidgood Duffield. The link involves the Rottnest Island Lighthouse. Courderots family may have fled from France to England at the time of the persecution of the Jesuits in the 1830s (Weld family was deeply historically involved with the Jesuits and also returned to England at this time - and this might be the link) and this makes his life and times potentially interesting - in addition to his WA story. Any information about the marriage or Courderot himself would be interesting. Courderot may have used another name - Conderot or de Malange; records are confusing - and this may have been made more confusing by the man himself. Thanks.
