Read their story

In 1920 the family took up 16 acres (later 40) on Pyrton Estate. Mac & his father planted a vineyard, after 1945 brother Gordon joined them. Initially currants, sultanas and raisins were produced, later table and wine grapes were added. The vineyard was sold in 1986. For 39 years Mac was a delegate to the Australian Dried Fruit Association, a coauthor of its constitution, advisor to government and on numerous occasions an overseas representative. Marriage in 1930 to Ruth Lovelock of West Guildford resulted in three children, Ruth, Norma and James.
