Giuseppe Ernesto Della-Santina arrived in WA age 16 ½ years and was met by his father and Guelfi family and on the back of a truck in about 100 deg heat. He commented, 'We have come to hell'. Feeling the heat, was then taken to accommodation and employment in a flower nursery and Luisini's grapes.
