Luigi and Frank's father Giuseppe arrived a year earlier in 1949 on the Ugolini Vivaldi. Giuseppe arrived earlier to prepare and start earning a living for the family before they arrived. Frank and Luigi along with their sister Antoinetta, found the language the hardest barrier to overcome, arriving knowing only a few English words such as yes, no, why, what.
