After arriving in Australia went to the Holden Camp in Northam. Moved to Leederville, then settled in Medina before moving in 1963 to Melville. Johannes went to work as a labourer in the Snowy Mountain Scheme in 1955 after which he was an electrician for Cockburn Cement for over 25 years.
