Edith moved with her parents to Brookton in 1953, attending school there. She worked in Gnowangerup from 1955 until marrying Norman White in 1959. Norman and Edith farmed in Tambellup and Edith served as shire counciloor for eleven years. They raised five children and retired from farming in 2003.
