Jose left his father's farm in Madeira Portugal on 4/10/52. In Spain they tried to get any visa and Australia won. He arrived in Fremantle on 13/3/53 with 4 other young men. £50 was needed to gain entrance. So they pooled their money, passed it back to each other through the fence and entered Western Australia.
