Born in Funchal, Jorge and his eldest daughter Evone arrived one year ahead of his wife, Antonieta and their seven children. Jorge was a carpenter and fireman in Funchal, and on arrival worked for BHP in Kwinana and then Watsonia Foods in Spearwood.
