Born in Poland. Deported by Russians to Siberia. After Stalin's amnesty travelled through Persia and India to UN 8 Displaced Persons Camp in Tanganyika. In 1950 (after 8 years in Africa) sailed to Perth with mother and 3 siblings. Trained as nurse and married Jan Kurak in 1959. Two daughters, Veronica (1960) and Jan (1962).
