The Cuthbert family lived three years in a tent, before clearing and owning land. Additions to the family were Gertrude, Ruth & Walter. They were survivors of the group settlement and depression era. Thomas, Charles and Edward helped to dig the Vasse Diversion Drain, diverting water from low-lying areas to the sea.
