Built the Castle Hotel in York. Owned hotels in Beverly & Cossack. Town councillor. His family owned & ran the Castle Hotel until 1995 & it still exists. Six children - 4 boys & 2 girls. 2nd son Francis was first mayor of York. Grandson Leslie was an MLC 1934-1956.
