Manuel was in the first group of Madeirans to go to Western Australia. He was married to Maria Jovita (nee Capelinha). They had 10 children, Maria, Natalie, Elizabeth, Armanoo, Yvonne, Zita, Fatima, Teresa, Sio & Cecelia.
