Before coming to Australia Joseph Cooper managed the United Dairies at Leigh. His association with the dairy industry made him feel confident to give the dairy scheme offered by Sir James Mitchell a go. Joseph & Annie left England with high hopes accompanied by their family of seven children, four sons and three daughters.
