The Coombes family arrived 1921 - part of the British Soldier Settlement Scheme. Left London on the 'Benalla' which ran aground on Pevensy Beach. Continued their journey on the 'Hororata'. Peters first memory of Fremantle was sheltering from the rain under a grandstand on Esplanade Reserve.
