Carpenter, builder & contractor. Worked in Albany early 1830's. Selected land at 'Katrine' near Northam. Imported first steam mill & established first flour mill in WA. Wayside Inn licence at Katrine & Post Office 1842. Established 'Arrino' on Irwin River. Invested in mining & agriculture. Father of Nathanial Cooke, explorer in NW of WA.

  • John Taylor Cooke was baptised in Brighton,East Sussex,England on May 29th 1808.We are not aware of any evidence to support the claim that he was born in Yorkshire
