Manuel fished from Fremantle on arrival 1911. Early 1920's he & wife Mary moved to Rottnest where they were caretakers at the Governors residence - now Quokka Arms. 1930 moved to Rockingham to build tearooms. Manuel continued fishing - became a well known identity. Manuel and Mary reared Christina, Rose and Manuel Jack.
