James Henry Cliffen was born in 1890. Arrived in Fremantle from London in 1913 on the Ajana & worked as a Farm Labourer in Beverley. Married Annice Priest in York, April 1914 & returned to the UK in 1914. Daughter born & wife died November 1914. James served in the British Army & returned to WA in 1925 on the Jervis Bay. Sponsored Young family & Annie Dewey. Married Annie in 1927. They had two daughters, Pauline in 1928 & Yvonne in 1930.
