On the ship Samuel was responsible for 18 Pankhurst boys and was paid 5 gold sovereigns. The journey took 111 days direct from London. The barque SIMON TAYLOR carried 319 assisted immigrants, the largest number WA was to receive at the time. Samuel settled at Halfway House, Point Walter and profited from River Trade. A respected citizen. A verger at St John's Church, Fremantle.
