Born in 1918 Maria arrived as a bride of 19 having married Alceo Calligaro. She worked hard looking after her husband and many workers in the brickyard in Bootenal. In Bunbury she had a dressmaking business whilst looking after her five children, Valmy, Sonia, Lidi
