Born in 1910 Alceo arrived as a young man of 17 with brickmaking moulds in his wooden trunk. This was the start of his pioneering brickmaking company established in Bootenal and later Waterloo. He married Maria Taboga in 1937 and was a father to Valmy, Sonia, Lidia, Darryl, Piera.
