Travelled to Australia with mother and sister. Father, Mario Calcei had arrived a couple of years earlier. Jim undertook an apprenticeship as a carpenter and joiner and later became a successful business owner. Married John Curtin High School sweetheart Jennifer in 1969 and had three children, Raechell, Bianca and Bart.
