Attended Mt Hawthorn Primary School. Married Ivy Thompson in 1937 & they had two daughters, Rae & Pat. Was a milk vendor in Mt Lawley & then a newsagent in West Leederville. Foundation member of the Scarborough Surf Club & became a club 'Legend' due to his 'all round prowess in sea, surfboat & sand'.
