Worked on the Perth to Toodyay Road then as a coachman at Woodbridge House Midland. Employed as a gardener by Sam Neill who owned property which is now St Hilda's Girls School. Retired to Mt Helena and farmed rabbits. His wife, Phillis and five sons arrived in 1910 and two daughters were born in Western Australia
