Sid was engaged to be married before emigrating. His fiancee Winifred Thirza Buckby followed him two years later and they were married in St George's Cathedral, Perth. They became shopkeepers in Perth and later poultry farmers in South Belmont which is now Rivervale. They both retired to Albany.
