  • William was my great great grandfather, and I am so proud to be a part of his family. Life would have been tough back in 1848 when he was convicted of sheep stealing along with Samuel Scattergood (convict no. 1). William was a widower, his wife Elizabeth Ireton having died of consumption, leaving William with two young daughters to provide for.
    William passed away in 1901 at the old men's home, and is buried in an unmarked grave in Karrakatta.

  • I am Sharon Thompson, a very proud great granddaughter of Emma Thompson née Branson.
    Emma is the daughter of William Branson, convict no. 3.
    If not for them, I wouldn’t be here.
