Edith arrived in Fremantle aged 7 years old and lived in a house built by her father Henry Bownass in Subiaco. Edith went to Rosalie Primary and Perth Girls Schools before becoming the dressmaker for the family (which included 6 sisters) due to the family needs. Edith married Stuart Bedford (Architect) and built homes in Dalkeith, Darlington and Albany where they retired.
