Read their story

My father came to Australia in 1939 leaving behind his wife and 4 children. Civil war broke out in 1948, my brother and sister were killed in the fighting, other sister fled to Hungary. In 1948 (aged 12) I was taken to Romania as a refugee. In 1949 mother went to Macedonia, then in 1953 went to in Australia. In 1956, I was reunited with parents and saw father in Fremantle for the first time, aged 20.
