In 1922 worked on farms to gain experience. 1923 took up 1000 acres virgin land 12 miles from Lake Brown. Cleared land by axe - first team horses, 1926 - first wheat 1927. Farmed wheat, sheep, horses, cows & pigs. Droughts & dust storms & grasshoppers caused great hardships on family. Joined RAAF 1942. Left farm and was a transport courier.
