Read their story

Fled Communist East Germany in 1953 with my parents. Was called in 1958 to join West German National Service. Decided they could shoot each other without me. Immigrated to Australia as 'Ten Pound Tourist'. Spoke no English but soon learned it. Australia was a free 'paradise' then, with high living standards and a laid back lifestyle.
