Edward Bailey was born one of 13 children in Swindon, Wiltshire. Worked on an estate in England with his family until work ran out & came to Perth on his own. Was sponsored by Levi Butcher to work on the Peel Estate. His brother Charlie was the keeper of the elephants at London Zoo, Edward Bailey sang in the choir, in England and Perth. Edward Bailey won the Sunday Times Mixed Gardens contest for Perth in 1961, for his garden in Armadale.
