CH1982.301; MEDAL, Sea Gallantry, with case.
Medal; Round silver medal with attached red ribbon with two white stripes in which a fastener is attached. Obverse: head of King George V with 'FOR GALLANTRY IN SAVING LIFE AT SEA - G.R.I.'. Reverse: scene depicting four people at sea; a man signalling, a man supporting a man on his back, and a woman holding a child. Rim: 'RALPH HENRY JAMES "POLGOWAN" 27th May 1919'.
Case; blue leatherette covered rectangular case with hinged lid and fastener. Lid has gold inlay insignia 'GvR' surmounted by a crown. Base has medal shaped crevice and is lined with blue velvet.
