Four ivory hair ornaments decorated with mother of pearl and enamel applique. Japanese.
a) & b) Matching, decorated all over with grapevine pattern. Japanese lettering on reverse of a)
c) Decorated in two sections, on upper half, with flowers and leaves. Peony type flowers. On reverse: japanese lettering & "B"
d) Decorated with mother of pearl bird at top and chrysanthemum-type flowers and leaves. On reverse: Japanese lettering and 'C'. Each has hole at narrow end.
Ann Roberts: a & b A pair of Japanese hair ornaments decorated in Shibayama style with berries and leaves of a fruiting vine and engraved with details, on the tapering ivory.
c) An ivory hair ornament applied with flowering sprays.
d) Another with a crane in flight above flowering chrysanthemums.
