SAW SHARPENING CLAMP

H1993.134

Heavy iron tool for clamping a saw to be sharpened. Has screwed vice grip at bottom to attach it to bench. Heavy broken wing nut has frozen into place just above vice grip. Appears to have enabled the tools jaws to have been held at an angle if necessary. Two sprung iron shafts, one with a simple release/locking handle, have the jaws on top which hold the saw blade. Across outside of both jaws is maker's name: 'HENRY DISSTON & SONS'. Came to the collection via the Morrison collection of saddlery from Albany but is not known whether tool was used in the saddlery or not.
