GLASS JAR with LID, 2 page LETTER, WWI

Small glass jar with screw top metal lid with contents of eleven small white dried beans and a two page paper letter from World War One on YMCA letterhead dated Tuesday 11th April, Albany, 1916. Letter reads:

'Dear Friend/Would you the finder of this /message be so kind as to write + let our/ people know that you found this small /+ say that we are having a grand time/+ in the best of health + on our way to Egypt./ By doing so friend we should be very / grateful + only too pleased to hear from / you saying you have found it also we / may have the pleasure of thanking you / again.
Hoping this should prove successful / also thanking you again for your kindness. / We Remain/Yours Sincerely/Four of the Toys/Our respective addresses are over the page/ HC"

The letter was hand-written in blue ink on letterhead supplied by the Y.M.C.A. in Melbourne 'On Active Service with the Australian Imperial Forces'
