LANTERN SLIDES, W.A. Museum

H1997.214

Pair of wooden storage units containing lantern slides in drawers per unit. Each drawer has a brass (plated) handle combined with a name tag slot, ¾ of which have names slipped in. Nine of the drawers have dovetailing on the front, suggesting that the units are not completely original. The named drawers are as follows: Palaentology, pottery, geology, painting, English, architecture, arachnids, ancient sculpture, physiology and medicine, mammals, marsupials, travel, countries J-Z, England, France, Greece and modern sculpture. Most of the slides are identified, with paper name tags on their top edges and/or labels on or adjacent to the images. The images are position, and most are black and white. The slides are trimmed with paper, generally black, with some red. Probably over 500 slides in the two units.
