(.1) Black felt stetson hat for formal occasions. Has black hat band and bow, with the same material around the brim edge. On the inside rim, the letters 'PH' have been punched. Also on the inside rim, 'MADE EXPRESSLY FOR/ DAVID JONES/ SYDNEY'; 'St. Regis'; 'JOHN B. STETSON/ COMPANY/ MADE IN AUSTRALIA/ UNDER LICENCE/ ROYAL STETSON' has been stamped in gold. A paper label attached to the rim, reads 'STETSON/7'. The inside of the hat crown is lined with cream material.
(.2) Cardboard hat box, constructed with staples. Has an inner cardboard section to hold hat in position. On one side the word 'STETSON' is printed with the maker's emblem. On the box lid 'HIS EXCELLENCY/ THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL' is written, with his home address.
