GEARS, Pair "SYNTHETIC"

Mounted "SYNTHETIC" gear pair. This pair of gears was constructed as a Doctoral Research Project at University of W.A. (see T79.16). The synthetic gear is an improvement on the involute gear, incorporating refined & improved tooth shape. Mr Srikanthan built up the tooth profile from basic requirements or "SYNTHESIS" by using computer. SYNTHETIC gear more effective than standard "INVOLUTE" gears ie: (a) Maximises working area. 90% contact with mating gear while transmitting load, v.50% involute contact. (b) 60% increased load capacity. (c) Reduced noise. (d) Reduced wear.
