Spotted Eel Blenny
Notograptus guttatus
Elongate, eel-like with a somewhat flattened head; tan with numerous small spots. Grows to around 10cm.
Morphology
Large mouth and long maxilla; long single dorsal fin with more than 50 rays.
Evolution
Currently only two recognised species but possibly more.
Behaviour
Unknown; highly cryptic
Method of reproduction
Unknown; possibly nest guarding.
Habitat
Marine
Inshore reefs and crevices, including intertidal pools.
Distribution
Northern Australia and PNG only.
