Painted Hypselodoris

Hypselodoris infucata

Up to 4 cm long. Ground colour purplish-grey with a creamy central band, and covered in dark blue and yellow spots and creamy patches. The rhinophores are bright orange red and the gills bright red and whtie.

Morphology

Throughout the Indo-West Pacific various names have been given to this species depending on the relative size of the yellow and blue spots. Juveniles often have no dark blue specks and their yellow patches are relatively large.

Evolution

Little is known about the relationship of this species to other members of the genus.

This is a widespread Indo-west Pacific species. In Australia, it is known from approximately the Dampier, Western Australia to New South Wales.
