Cymbastela stipitata
Olive green, occasionally olive maroon. Low horizontal flattened cup with short basal stalk. Surface smooth, may have lateral projections, oscules not visible, consistency firm and flexible. No microscleres, only oxeas as megascleres
Morphology
Cup-shaped, lamellate growth form with short stalk.
Behaviour
Sessile filter feeder with cyanobacterial symbionts.
Method of reproduction
Sexual with larvae.
Habitat
Marine
Occurs from the intertidal to 19 metres depth. WA: 0- 53.0m.
Distribution
Northern and north western Australia from Pilbara northwards to Ashmore Reef.
